Sinhagad Fort

Sinhagad Fort is located about 35 km southwest of Pune in Maharashtra. It is built on a hilltop around 4,300 feet above sea level in the Sahyadri range. The fort is famous for the Battle of Sinhagad (1670), where Tanaji Malusare fought bravely for Shivaji Maharaj. Inside the fort are memorials of Tanaji, the Kaundinyeshwar temple, and old military structures. The fort also has natural defenses with steep cliffs and strong gateways like Pune Darwaza and Kalyan Darwaza. Today, Sinhagad is a popular trekking spot and picnic destination with scenic views and historic importance.
