Bhima Shankar Jyotirlinga

Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga is one of the twelve sacred Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva in India. It is located in the Sahyadri Hills, Pune district, Maharashtra, surrounded by dense forests and natural beauty. According to legend, Lord Shiva appeared here to defeat the demon Tripurasura, and the place became holy as a Jyotirlinga. The temple has beautiful Nagara-style architecture and attracts thousands of devotees every year. The river Bhima is believed to have originated from this place, hence the name Bhimashankar. Apart from being a pilgrimage site, it is also part of the Bhimashankar Wildlife Sanctuary, home to rare flora and fauna. Festivals like Maha Shivaratri are celebrated with great devotion, making it an important spiritual destination.
