Lohagad Fort is located near Lonavala in Pune district, Maharashtra. The fort stands at a height of about 3,389 feet above sea level. It was used by many dynasties, including the Satavahanas, Rashtrakutas, Yadavas, Bahamanis, Mughals, and Marathas. In 1648, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj captured Lohagad Fort and used it to store treasure. The fort is famous for its long fortified wall called the “Vinchu Kata”, which looks like a scorpion’s tail. Lohagad offers a beautiful view of the Pawna lake and the surrounding Sahyadri mountains. Today, it is a popular trekking spot, especially in the monsoon season when the fort is covered in greenery and mist.
