Pandav Leni Caves, also called Trirashmi Caves, are ancient Buddhist rock-cut caves located near Nashik. They were carved between the 2nd century BCE and the 6th century CE during the Satavahana and Kshatrapa periods. The caves consist of 24 rock-cut monasteries and shrines, mainly used by Buddhist monks for meditation and living. Beautiful carvings of Buddha, Bodhisattvas, and symbolic stupas can be seen inside the caves. The name “Pandav Leni” came later due to the local belief that the Pandavas from the Mahabharata stayed here. The caves are situated on a hilltop, offering a panoramic view of Nashik city. Today, Pandav Leni is an important tourist and heritage site, attracting both history lovers and spiritual seekers.
