Bhimashankar Wildlife Sanctuary
Bhimashankar Wildlife Sanctuary was created in the Ambegaon and Khed talukas of Pune District, in the Western Indian state of Maharashtra in order mainly to protect the habitat of the Indian Giant Squirrel. It spreads through 3 district of Maharashtra that is Pune District, Raigad District & Thane District. The area is rich in biodiversity and has been recognized as part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site – Western Ghats. The famous Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga Temple is situated within the sanctuary, attracting pilgrims along with nature lovers.The sanctuary is home to diverse flora and fauna, including leopards, barking deer, wild boars, langurs, and many species of birds.
